Girl, you are gorgeous, but OMG SO PALE. I mean, you don’t need a tan or anything, but you look so…ethereal and otherworldly with the light, light hair and your pale, pale skin. This is meant to be a compliment, but you know I am terrible with that.

And I was going for the ethereal/elf/faerie look when I chose this hair and the hair styles I’ve been wearing (with the option of grunge styles once my roots really come in). Glad it’s coming across! I HAS VISIONS.

coloring hair, especially so dramatically, is always fun but risky :/ maybe try again at another time with another brand?

I have a long history of working in salons and spas, coloring my own hair, and bleaching my own hair. The difference now is the length of my hair. I did not foresee it tightening my naturally loopy curls. I knew bleach stretched the hair, but I didn’t think it would do it this much. That’s all that’s really disappointing me. All semi-permanent hair colors fade - just usually when you wash them. Hair care products can fade the color even without washing as well, which is what I suspect happened in my case. I just have to find the culprit (and re-apply some more pink hair dye in the mean time)!

The Bleach Took Away My Mermaid Curls & Now I Are Sad

The curls are weird and stringy now, and the color faded in nine days WITHOUT EVEN WASHING IT.

I am probably going back to this once my roots really start coming in…

…because the color I have would have been GORG with mermaid curls, but alas that is not what happened SIGH.

Is the red/auburn your natural color?

I am naturally a dark strawberry blonde that, over the years, has turned ashy. There are lots of white (not gray) hairs popping up too now. I started dying it (alternately) copper red and what I call “mermaid red” about nine months ago, I guess. So yes, I was born a red head, but this is not my natural shade of red.

Thanks, Amanda! That’s kind of what sold me on this specific shade of pink. I think it will look good with my eye color and skin tone. I have a neutral skin tone, which means I can wear cool or warm colors, so to help narrow things down, I tend to choose a color based on how well it brings out my eye color.

I think with my features and the right makeup, I will look very faerie-esque with the baby pink hair color. :D
